Floyd loves his greenies.

Floyd goes to town on these greenies. He just loves them. And it’s pretty funny how he defends them against the cats, who could care less about strange, green, veggie bones.

But be careful. Greenies have caused death in some dogs. If they’re gulped and not chewed properly, the dog can choke. So, they’re not a good treat to give a dog while he’s alone in his crate or while traveling and under stress.

Livingroom ideas…

Even as I yearn for a minimalist lifestyle and even as we sell, donate, and dump all of our stuff, I can’t stop myself from shopping. I’m just window shopping right now, imagining our new apartment and trying to design the space. These are my current finds:

  1. A desk with a lower section that rolls in and out as a space saver.
  2. Nesting tables: Where one or more table sits under another when not in use.

Hurray zipcar!

August 30, 2006 | 1 Comment

One of the reasons Ed and I are excited to move to New York is that we won’t need cars. We will live close enough to everything to walk. We can use the Subway, trains, and planes to get ourselves elsewhere. And, when we need to use a car, we can do it the cool, urban way: Zipcar!

Join Zipcar and get $25 in free driving!

Zipcar is about car sharing. It’s not traditional car rental. For one, you only have to be 21, not 25, to rent these cars. And when you rent a car you only pay one fee - the gas and insurance is included. So, for people without cars who drive infrequently (like me) it makes perfect sense.

Instead of paying monthly for car insurance, maintenance, and parking, we can just rent these zipcars whenever we need one.

For example, Ed could rent a zipcar once a month to drive out to visit his mom instead of taking the train. Or we could rent a zipcar to make a trip to Home Depot or Target to get home goods.

And these cars are pretty sweet too, because there’s no line to wait to rent your car and no weird service person at the desk asking a million questions. You just reserve the car online and then walk up to the nearest car, swipe your card, and go.

And I checked: there are currently at least 13 available cars within 5 blocks of our new apartment. This is the way it ought to be.

Video of Ed

Ed has something new on his site:

I video taped that. It stunk so bad! Yuck! The floor looks like it’s just dirty, but it’s really been raised about 6 inches from mud and books.

Since making that video, Ed’s mom’s home has been gutted. I’m not sure what happened to that piano, but I bet it went to the dump along with all the rest of her things except the photo albums she took with her when she evacuated.
