Random Ideas

Going to see Alkaline Trio tonight. Wanted to see Death Cab for Cutie last weekend but it was sold out by the time I got around to checking.

Donated blood today.

For some weird reason I’m in a very good mood.

I’m nervous about Queer Eye. It’s just such a hassle. I mean, in the end I think it will be a good experience. But we don’t *need* it and it’s just such a hassle. I sort of wish I hadn’t said yes. Of course I won’t back out now, but I sure want to.

Condo is empty. Needs cleaning. I’m going over there today to take a look around and start with the clean-up. I can’t wait to sell it. Not that we need the money or anything, just that it’s lingering. It’s emotionally draining. I really did like that place and it was all mine. It represents my independence - a time when I felt much more productive than I do now, a time when I felt like more of an individual, a time when things seemed more promising.

I certainly don’t regret marriage and I love Ed like crazy, but this whole relationship thing is tough work. Planning for the future sometimes makes me sick to my stomach.

I’m excited for a dog, but I’m not real excited for a house or for kids right now. I just don’t want to deal with the hassle and the compromises.

I feel like taking off for Europe for a couple months.

Speaking of Europe, Ed’s ex-girlfriend is getting married. They’re going to Poland for the ceremony and we’re invited. I’m not sure I want to go, but Ed’s pretty excited about it. He’s been to Poland (with her) and really enjoyed it. I don’t know. I hate weddings. Especially religious weddings.

Allergy test was today.

I am allergic to:
sycamore
arizona ash
mulberry
olive trees
russian olive
gamble oak
privet
mesquite
bermuda
canary grass
salt grass
alternaria
mites
cockroaches
false ragweed
wingscale
lenscale
lambs quarter
pigweed
saltbush
allscale
burrobrush
baccharis
mugwort
sagebrush
cocklebur
and CATS

I am not allergic to:
dogs
and other animals
a bunch of other plants

The plan is to get an air purifier and allergy shots. The shots will increase my resistance. I’m considering also washing the cats daily. Just kidding. But we’re not getting any more cats. Four is enough. We will get a dog too. He can help keep the cats in line.

Weird. My blood work came back and my cholesterol is too low. They said both my good and bad cholesterol is below the normal level. The remedy? Exercise more. OK, cool. I can do that.

what’s in a name? A rose by any other…

My grandma is funny. She’s my only living grandparent. She will probably outlive us all. Let’s see, if my dad is 70, she must be about 90 or so. She sent me a birthday card. It had $10 in it! haha! I’m 30, Grandma!

She addressed it to Elaine Miller Vigneault. My aunt thinks my name is Elaine Vigneault Miller. Well, at least they understand that I kept Vigneault. They’re not quite understanding the idea that I didn’t change my name at all. But I’m pretty lucky actually. Everyone else gets it. I expected to get all my junk mail delivered to Elaine Miller but nope.

Dad

March 14, 2006 | 1 Comment

Last week I had my 30th birthday. I had a great day with Ed but there is part of the story I left out.

cakeMy dad called me. His voice mail was difficult to understand, but Mary followed up with a call letting me know Dad was in town. I thought it was odd he was in town on my birthday.

He just came to town for fun and didn’t make any special effort to see me. The gossip from another sister is that he came to Vegas with a hooker and it just happened to be on my birthday.

This is so 16 candles.
