Fahrenheit 9/11

I just saw the film on Saturday. It does a good job of showing Bush for his true colors: a theif, a liar, and a killer.

He is a theif because he stole the election (http://www.toostupidtobepresident.com/shockwave/the_bush.htm).

He is a liar because of his justifications the war in Iraqu (WMD don’t exist, link between Osama and Sadam doesn’t exist) (http://www.tompaine.com/feature2.cfm/ID/8210) .

He is a killer because he’s responsible for the death of hundreds of American troops and innocent Iraqi children. (http://www.iraqbodycount.net/ http://www.ips-dc.org/iraq/costsofwar/numbers.htm)

“Last month, White House communications director Dan Bartlett said the movie ‘was so outrageously false it’s not even worth comment,’ even though he had not yet seen the film.”
“…despite conservatives’ best efforts to discredit the film, the NY Times notes, ‘central assertions of fact in ‘Fahrenheit 9/11′ are supported by the public record.’ ”
“Much of that cost [of the Iraq war] has been hidden by the Bush administration, which has banned photos of flag-draped coffins coming home (even though the Bush campaign uses flag draped corpses at Ground Zero in its political commercials).”

I received a little gift the other day. Someone sent me the lyrics to the song mentioned in the last post. Nice gesture. Rather romantic. Looked at condos today. Nothing exciting. I’m considering just letting Mary pick something out. I don’t really care. LSAT is tomorrow! I’m really nervous. Excited, too. This is going to be the beginning of the rest of my life :)

Do not rent Elephant. It’s not a good movie.

My little Belgian friend recommended a song and now I can’t get it out of my head - Haiducci, Dragostea Din Tei. Cute, poppy, electronic. I don’t understand the words, but it’s French and fun.

Speaking of French things, I had an epiphany this last weekend. I’ve been trying to figure out where this reluctance to buy a house is coming from. There are the usual sources: I’m happy in my apartment, I’m afraid of more responsibility, higher payments, I hate moving, I don’t want to live further away from work… But I think the real issue is the idea of staying in Vegas scares me. I never planned on coming here and it’s not really where I want to end up. Sure, it works out for now and I could stay here for a long time as long as I got to do a lot of traveling. But my real dream is to move to France.

Picked up the new David Sedaris book. Not as funny as I had hoped. But I’ve barely made a dent in it so I’ll get back to you on that. Final review to be expected later this week. I’ll sneak in reads inbetween studying for LSAT.

Test is next monday! holy crap! 12:30pm at Charleston. holy crap!

Missed Hamlet Under the Stars because me and my friends are kinda dumb. We got the dates wrong. Mary and I considered seeing Potter. Instead I rented the House of Sand and Fog. Good film. Liz brought some funny snacks. Mary went to Potter with Joey and Marty.

I rented a few more for the rest of the week. It’s been so long since I’ve been to the movie store that I had 3 films in my arms before I even got to the J section. Walker was with me picking out movies. I asked him if they had any kind of special for 3 movies and he says, “yeah, the lonely single chick package. It comes with bon bons and a diet coke.”

In the car he was complaining about his job prospects, worrying about his future and berating himself for choosing a Master’s in Lit. He started working out the possible scenarios and then came to, “I could stay with you for a while. You wouldn’t mind, I’d be like another cat; something alive and hungry waiting for me when I got home from work.”

Went hiking with Liz but she got too hot and we had to turn back. Next time I’m doing that trail alone. Last time I didn’t make it to the end either because Walker had to get back home by a certain time. Kinda sad because it’s a short hike.
