Christmas shopping and work issues

Las night I went to Walmart. I try to avoid Walmart because of it’s crimes against humanity. However, Walmart was the only place selling this thing I wanted to buy for Christmas. I searched high and low for the “thing.” I found the thing, and some other things, of course. And headed towards the check-out. I took one look at the lines and one earful of the noise. I set my stuff down in a pile by the checkout and walked out without buying anything. I just couldn’t do it. This is the second time in the last couple months that this has happened to me. I think I just can’t shop at Walmart anymore. It’s too disturbing.

Anyway, all my Christmas shopping is done. I got a variety of learning toys and books for Joey along with an outfit and some not-so-educational toys. I got two good things for Mary and an assortment of things for my mom. Books for two close friends and for my dad. It would have been helpful to have had an employee discount at some store. Maybe I’ll start working somewhere part time next Christmas season for the discount.

I love wrapping presents. This year I stuck to themes. I did all my gifts to Mary in one wrapping paper and all the gifts to my mom in another. Joey got the snow doggies wrapping paper. See, I ran out of gift tags so this way they’re easily identifiable. Yes, I’m anal.

Work is going pretty well, except that I’ve been working 10-12 hour days with short or no lunches. I have a lot to do for a few reasons: I don’t have my systems set in place yet, I am still learning some of the things I’m responsible for, I don’t have an assistant yet. I like almost everyone in the office. The other day Sheila and I got into it at lunch - She said she didn’t like Whoppi Goldberg because she’s gay. I said,

“oh, that’s a good reason to not like someone.”

Sheila responded,

“well I’m not mean to them, I just don’t associate with gay people. I don’t invite them to my house for dinner. Understand?”

I said,

“Yeah, I understand. I feel the same way about biggots.”

I need a date for my work Alumni Gala. This should be interesting.
