Radio show is archived - you can listen to it at http://www.hisside.com/show_archive.htm

Took guinea pig to vet. He has a minor ear infection that requires ear drops. Also, vet suggested many other lifestyle changes - new bigger cage, better cage litter (not wood chip stuff), more vitamin C, etc.

Took pics of pig. Going to post later tonight.

Going to Bite of Las Vegas with friends this afternoon.

115 dollars, 32 hours, and lots of little red and white pills

Yesterday I flew to Dallas to pick up Joey. He was happy to see me and we went home safely.

But during the trip I got a headache - the worst headache of my life. I thought I was going to die. I thought it was an aneurysm. It was like someone stuck an ice pick into my head starting at my left eyebrow and shoved it diagonally down and back towards my ear and jaw, with a concentration of pain at the entry point. I thought there was something wrong with my eye, like I was going blind. And that eye itched. I started crying on the plane right then and there. I couldn’t help it. I took 4 Tylenol and tried deep breathing to relax.

On the ground I took 4 more Tylenol. (The Tylenol label says not to exceed 8 in 12 hours). The intense, sharp pain had subsided, but an ache persisted. Throughout the trip, a cycle of sharp, stabbing pains and duller aches continued. I had no more Tylenol and no other meds with me. 8 hours after the pain started we were back in Vegas and I took one of my migraine pills, Amidrine.

Over the next 2 and half hours I took 4 more Amidrine (Label says not to exceed 5 in 12 hours). Finally got some rest. Woke up feeling hungover but only a very mild aching pain in my head. Went to the gym to resume normal routine of life. Headache came back. Grew and grew. I wound up taking 4 more Amidrine (the rest of the bottle) between 1pm and 3pm.

Decided to go to UMC Quick Care. I spent about 20 minutes in the waiting room crying with my head in my lap. Crying from pain and from the realization that I was effectively alone. UMC staff “examined” me - exam consisted of these 6 elements only: heart rate, blood pressure, temperature, weight, flash of light in eyes, discussion - and then they gave me two injections. One shot in my arm and one in my butt.

I don’t even know what they gave me; I was so out of it from the pain and the Amidrine. They kept me for a bit to make sure I didn’t have an allergic reaction. I tried to sleep but everyone was so damn loud. They sent me home with 2 prescriptions and samples of a really expensive migraine tablet called Axert. They said I was fine to drive and if things got any worse to go to the emergency room right away. I filled the script, ate dinner, and took a bath.

The headache did finally go away. I can only hope this never happens to me again.

me on radio

I will be debating the Choice for Men movement on the radio this Sunday night at 11 PM.
I hope you can listen in and maybe call into the show.

You can listen live online at http://www.hisside.com “listen live”

It will be airing on the radio in Los Angeles and Seattle. I’m not sure of the call numbers.

The number to call when you call in is 866-870-5752 and should be toll-free. Additionally, you can email your comments to Glenn Sacks at glenn@hisside.com

Basically, I will argue that Choice for Men is a silly idea that should never become law because it’s based on a flawed analogy. Women’s right to choice (contraception, abortion) is a biological right to be free from pregnancy, Choice for Men is about a desired financial freedom from fatherhood. Read more

Golden Gate BridgeI am saddened for my former state. And worried about my current one - there’s been talk of recalling our governor too!

Yesturday I made a nice little table in Excel, printed it, and taped it to the back of my remote control. Ahhh, what a difference a channel directory makes :)

One day I will have digital cable and Tivo.
